14//52 & 154.365 (Chair)

(Saturday, 3 April 2010) Thought this chair would make a good subject for some more practice with the PX 100 Silver Shade First Flush film. Unfortunately I dawdled around too long this afternoon and the lighting conditions grew a little too dim for a handheld shot (realized this after the first exposure of a new pack came out a little blurry…) I’m so glad I invested in a tripod adaptor for my SX-70.

152.365 (Brooklyn Bridge)

(Friday, 2 April 2010) After visiting The Impossible Project, I wandered over to the Brooklyn Bridge. It was crowded, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my first walk on the bridge.

152.365 (Capturing a Rabbit)

(Thursday, 1 April 2010) Here’s my first shot using PX 100 Silver Shade First Flush film by
The Impossible Project. Having spent the last week reading about this film, I was a bit nervous to press the shutter release button on my SX-70. Fortunately, my preparations paid off: taping the dark slide to the front of the camera seemed to prevent it from becoming overexposed; then to prevent too much pressure on the film while holding it under my arm, I simply stuck it in a cold clip from one of my packfilm cameras.

149.365 (Chugging Away)

(Monday, 29 March 2010) Thought I’d use this HO scale Canadian Pacific locomotive for some more practice with the close-up attachment for my Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera.

147.365 (Zoo)

(Saturday, 27 March 2010) One of the pillars to the former entrance of Ross Park Zoo, in Binghamton, New York.

145.365 (Land 230)

(Thursday, 25 March 2010) This Model 230 Land Camera is one of my favorites in my Polaroid collection. I used my other favorite—the SX-70—to capture it on film.

142.365 (Renaissance)

(Monday, 22 March 2010) Today was a special day. Not because the ice has almost completely melted off the lake or that it marked the one year anniversary of posting my first photo to Flickr. Rather it was the exciting news that came out of New York: The Impossible Project has successfully reinvented instant integral film! Funny thing is, I didn’t even own a single Polaroid camera when the ice formed on the lake. Today I own fifteen. I am so grateful to have been introduced to this medium and I am even more grateful that The Impossible Project will allow me to indulge in it even more.

136.365 (Spring Diptych)

(Tuesday, 16 March 2010) A couple weeks ago I found a really great deal on a few SX-70 accessories. Today, I tried the close-up attachment for the first time. The afternoon sun was shining pretty brightly on my flowerbed, so I dialed the exposure level down a couple notches. Thought it developed a little darker, so tried the same shot again with the dial centered.
Darker version
Lighter version

133.365 (Rabbits • Hares • Deer)

(Saturday, 13 March 2010) So the Deluge of O-Ten provided us with the perfect excuse to visit the American Museum of Natural History. It was the first opportunity I’ve taken to really use my SX-70 indoors. This one of the “Mammals of New York” exhibit turned out better than most of the others. (There is no such thing as a wasted Polaroid, but I came close with a couple of the shots…)

11//52 (Brunch)

(Saturday, 13 March 2010) Had Saturday morning brunch with some friends at Philip Marie’s in the West Village. We scored a table right by the window, which was perfect for watching people vainly attempting to use umbrellas during the Deluge of O-Ten. After using two frames to get this shot, decided I needed to stop by the International Center of Photography Gift Shop to pick up another pack of ATZ film. I’m glad that a)I was in a city where I could actually find Polaroid film and b)that ICP was on our way Uptown.

130.365 (Solo)

(Wednesday, 10 March 2010) Decided I would use the last shot of 779 Share the Love Again film left in my Polaroid SX-70. I inadvertently adjusted the light control in the wrong direction, so I worked on my editing skills a bit in Lightoom. The original can be viewed
here.

8//52 (Trainspotting)

(Saturday, 20 February 2010)
Didn’t plan on doing any trainspotting today, but this freight train caught my eye on my way home from Oneonta.

112.365 (A Gray Day)

(Saturday, 20 February 2010)
Had a meeting this morning at First UMC Oneonta. I could spend hours photographing this beautiful church

107.365 (Hat-trick Hunter)

107.365 (Hat-trick Hunter)
(Monday, February 15, 2010) I received this little guy for my birthday a few years ago. Thought I’d feature him as a tribute to the XXI Winter Olympics currently being held in Vancouver.

6//52 (Setting Sun)

(Saturday, February 6, 2010) It was a perfect afternoon to go for a walk across the lake. At least for those that like walking on ice.

(Check back tomorrow for more uploads!)

093.365 (Looking Toward Downtown)

(Monday, February 1, 2010) Looking toward downtown Binghamton, New York from the South Washington Street Bridge.

5//52 (Endicott-Johnson Pagoda)

Endicott-Johnson Corporation was the major employer in Broome County (NY, USA) in the early 20th century. Their shoe factories were located throughout Binghamton, Endicott, and Johnson City. E-J employees used scrap materials to build this pagoda, which housed the water pump for one of the larger factory sites in Johnson City. A couple years ago, the pagoda was moved down the street to C. Fred Johnson Park. The factory buildings have been demolished and the brownfield site has been developed into a regional Gannett newspaper publishing facility and a Wal-Mart.

4//52 (SX-70 Encounters a Holgaroid)

Dave Bias was kind enough to provide me with some great tips on using a Holgaroid (Holga 120CFN with a Polaroid Back). It is my supposition that if one can’t make exposures with the SX-70, one should make exposures of the SX-70. (Note to self: order more film from PolaPremium.)

081.365 (The Bug)

(Wednesday, January 20, 2010) This is one of the many Volkswagen Beetles my dad has restored over the years. He had a lot of fun watching this exposure develop.

077.365 & 3//52 (Organ Pedals)

(Saturday, January 16, 2010) I spent most of the day in a meeting at the First United Church of East Syracuse. After the meeting concluded, I wandered around the sanctuary for a few minutes and was drawn to these organ pedals. My next big Polaroid related purchase will be a tripod mount for my SX-70.
