Nº 47: Hope

Nº 47: Hope
Originally uploaded by Penlington Manor
(Wednesday, 16 February 2011) I don’t normally like to post my 365 shots out of order, but… Yesterday my friends’ daughter/sister/granddaughter/niece/cousin, Lauren Ashley, suffered massive injuries in a car accident. We were holding out hope that like the daffodils beginning to peek out from under the melting snow, somehow Ashley would be able to fight against the odds stacked against her and pull through. Shortly after taking this shot, I received word that sometime tonight or tomorrow, Ashley will be removed from life support and her organs will be donated in order to bring hope to other families.

081 - t-shirts

Here are Eric and I in a couple of our left-leaning t-shirts.

In discussions, I don't always offer up what I believe--sometimes because I don't want to get too involved in the discussion and sometimes because I feel like my arguments won't stand up against those of the other person/people.

Mostly, I believe that if people would listen to each other and know that no person is worth more or less than another person--if we didn't feel the need to be right all the time--if we could have respect for our earth and the people in it--then the world would work the way it's supposed to.

I read this over again, and it sounds so lame...so generic. I guess I'm not very clever at expressing myself. All I know is that I need to treat those around me with respect and patience, and I need to use as little of the earth's resources as I can. I'm not always good at those things, but I do need to try.

079 - love

It's Valentine's Day, and it's snowing...this needed to be done.

PS - I feel very fortunate that I'm married to this man--someone with a sense of humor, a down-to-earth-ness, an ability to challenge me and make me better, and a passion to make the world a better place. Plus, it's just fun to hang out with him.

I played around with my pinhole attachment, and it seems that I've got some funk in it. (I cloned it out of this photo.) How is it possible to have funk in a pinhole? Is it an amoeba??

One of the greatest things about having our own home is that we've got laundry machines in our house. It's SO FANTASTIC not to have to haul all of our stuff to a laundromat to do the laundry.
