086.365 (January Thaw)

It rained today. A lot. Most of the snow is now gone. At least it made for some cool runoff captures. Most of the time this ditch is bone dry.

365:347 - Headlights and Water Drops

On the way home from my sister's house we got stopped on Interstate 81. There was a pretty bad accident involving at least five trailer trucks, so we sat still on the highway for about three hours. We got antsy and impatient and fidgety, but we were very grateful that we were safe.

You know how I love water droplets. I took the opportunity to shoot lots of them (and other things) while we were sitting still.

365:346 - Chesapeake City Bridge

While we were in Baltimore, we traveled to meet Eric's mom and his brother Doug and Doug's fiancee Catherine for dinner and a visit. After dinner, we drove to Chesapeake City, which is this petite, picturesque town with a bunch of quaint little shops. To get to the town, we had to cross over this enormously high bridge, which I enjoyed (although it seemed to make Doug very nervous).

Just another rainy night in Binghamton.

017.365

Photo scavenger list is now complete. Tried recreating a waterfall on my kitchen counter. Probably will use the photo from Day 4 for the moving water category, but still think this one is kind of neat.

After my meeting in Saratoga Springs finished, I tried racing the setting sun to the Adirondacks. Unfortunately, it beat me. Though there was still enough light to take a few shots of Lake George.

Arrived in Binghamton a little after sunset this evening to take some photos from the South Washington Street Bridge. Here’s the view of the State Office Building and State Street Bridge.

365:299 - Leaves in the Pond

Matt and I went for a photo walk at Otsiningo Park, and the pond was very calm, allowing for some great reflections.

365:288 - Snow on the Windshield

It was snowing when I left work, so I tried to take some shots when I had to stop at a stoplight. You can't really tell, but there is snow on the windshield of the car!

Owego Photo Walk

The Photo-op went on a photo walk of Owego, NY tonight. My camera has been really acting up as of late, but I was fortunate to be able to make a couple decent exposures. Using the monochrome mode seemed to help. The photo above features the row of businesses on Front Street that line the bank of the Susquehanna River. If you look closely, you can see where a new river walk is being constructed. The photo below was taken in monochrome, then as I tinkered around in Picasa I somehow managed to make the red in the flag appear. (Just don’t ask me how…)

365:180 - Dreary Day

This is pretty much how I felt on Monday. I had to come home from camp to go to the doctor 'cause I was sicker than I'd been in several months.

365:179 - Sky Lake

Eric and I are helping to lead a camp this week, so we're getting to spend some time at Sky Lake--hooray!

I only shot two frames on Wednesday, and guess what--they were of water droplets!

365:150 - Whitney Point Lake

On my way home from the Celebration of Hope at Dorchester Park, I stopped at the pull-off that looks over Whitney Point Lake. It was a beautiful, sunny evening, so I thought I'd get some great shots of the sun going down over the lake and hills. Turns out I was too early for the sunset, and the sky is blasted out in most of the pictures. When I bent down, though, and took the sky out of the frame, I was able to get a few of these kinds of pictures, and I really like the colors.

365:144 - Vermont Stream

We went to eat at a scrumptious restaurant, and across the street was a little park with a stream. It was dark enough under the trees for me to play around with long shutter speeds to make the water look soft.

365:136 - Pourin' the Rain

When we lived in Kentucky, we learned a lot of new ways to phrase things, and "pourin' the rain" was one of them. It was certainly pourin' the rain on Saturday evening, and I loved it. It's great to have a porch to hang out on when there's a tumult outside.

365:129 - Ithaca Falls

Eric and I took a friend to visit Ithaca. Since our friend didn't know a lot about Ithaca, we had to visit some key places, and one of them was Ithaca Falls.

This waterfall is right in the middle of town, and it's accessible all hours of the day and night. One of my favorite memories of weekends working at camp was when a bunch of people decided to drive out to the falls in the middle of the night. I remember lying on my back on the rocks, looking up at the stars and hearing the falls and talking to a friend abou some deep, important subject (which, of course, I don't remember now).

It's a beautiful place that's linked with great memories for me.
