365:241 - Liz

Liz is one of my oldest friends. We went to gradeschool and college together, and she's really the only one of my classmates that I stay in touch with.

Since I started playing around with photography, she's mentioned to me that she'd like me to do a portrait of her. While we were visiting her and Matthew, I had the chance to take a whole lot of shots of her.

I don't know if Liz likes this one, but I do. It shows the care and concern she has for the plants on her farm...and for the earth in general.

365:226 - Driving

Here's Eric driving his dad's 1965(ish) Chevy.

I know that this isn't the sort of picture that would appear in a photography textbook next to "awesome photo," but I love it anyhow. It just shows so well the feeling of watching Eric enjoy himself so much driving that old truck on a summer evening.

365:210 - A Farmer and His Cows

For the Broome County Fair, Eric went up to help his dad take care of the cows that he had brought to be judged. When Abby and I went to hang out with them, Eric asked us to take some pictures of his dad with the cows, and I was glad that he did 'cause I love this shot. It shows how loving the relationship between a good farmer and his animals can be.

Love

Sarah and I were privileged to be asked by Kevin and Stacey to be the photographers for their wedding in November. We thought we’d get some practice in by taking some engagement photos. And by practice I mean well over 1,000 exposures between the two of us! We spent a couple hours this evening photographing the Kevin and Stacey around Sky Lake—the place they met. Above is one of my favorites.

365:165 - Reflected

On Sunday Eric and I hung out with his cousin Lizzie. We visited Taughannock Falls, roamed around the Ithaca Commons a little, and at at a great Mexican restaurant. Despite one minor injury, we had a great time!

Here are Lizzie and I standing at the edge of the lake, as reflected in Eric's sunglasses.

This is another one of our friends' incredibly cute children.

I love her cute little pixie smile and the way that the sunlight caught her hair.

365:137 - AJ

When we went to camp for open house on Sunday, they had a lot of fruit in the lodge for people to munch on. While we were lounging around, Brookye came up to me and said, "AJ is about to eat a lemon. You will want to take pictures." She was right. This little man bit into this lemon slice, and his face puckered immediately! He seemed to like it, though--he kept going back for more and laughing about it.

365:130 - Mother's Day

Eric and I got to hang out with my mom (and other members of my family) on Mother's Day, which was great! I didn't think to have anyone pose for any sort of portraits, so this candid is the only shot I got of my mom from Sunday.

Now that I think about it, though, it's probably good. My mom's not a glamorous, pose-y type of woman. She's a for-real woman. She didn't teach me how to put on make-up--she taught me how to care for people.

Thank you, Mom, for being an incredible example of honesty, faith, and love. I love you!

365:87 - Rebecca

My uncle from Ohio came in for the weekend, so I got to go to dinner with some family. This is my cousin's daughter, Rebecca. She's smart and independent and fantastic. And apparently, she also enjoys chocolate chip mint ice cream.

Because he's the one I see the most and the one I feel most comforatble with, my sweet husband often becomes a guinea pig for portraits...I think he might like it.

365:37 - Self-Portrait at Thirty

I'm thirty years old now. Somehow this birthday seemed as if it would be more significant than others, so I've been thinking about it for several weeks. It's a strange point in my life to turn thirty 'cause I'm not where I want to be physically and career-wise. I guess I kind of thought I'd be feeling pretty secure when I turned thirty, and I actually feel more like I'm floating.

It's good, though. I think I might like being thirty.

365:27 - Self-Portrait

Well, I was uninspired, so I ended up taking some strange self-portraits with a bright light behind my head. I like that I look a little girly in this one, and I like that there's some flare next to my eye...making me look like an angel, right? Hahahaha!

365:4 - Andrew

Eric and I were at our church camp the past few days, leading a retreat for persons with special needs.

Andrew is one of the counselors that helped with the retreat. This picture was the last photo I took on Sunday--hanging out in the south lounge of Riley Lodge, trying to answer questions from the 90's version of Trivial Pursuit.
