365:259 - L
We had an accident with some CDs dropped on our computer keyboard, and we had been without the "L" key for about a year. The whole keyboard started acting up, so we decided it was time for the computer to go to the doctor. After two weeks, the computer is back home with a new, improved keyboard. It's nice to have the "L" back!

365:256 - In the Parade
Eric invited me to ride along while he drove the Tioga County Dairy Princesses in his dad's truck in the Berkshire Heritage Day parade. It's harder to get an interesting shot when you're part of the parade.

365:255 - Clock
My father's parents had more than one home, and since my grandfather passed away two and a half years ago, my grandmother has moved into a smallish apartment in a retirement community. This means that my family is going through the long, slow process of sorting my grandparents' belongings. Eric and I took some time to look through my grandfather's books to pick out some that we wanted, and we saw lots of incredibly old and interesting things.
365:254 - Rainy Binghamton
Another dreary Binghamton day. I have to say, though, that I do enjoy the rain. Maybe that's part of why I'm intrigued by Binghamton.

365:250 - My Parents
I got to spend part of Labor Day with my parents, which was really nice. It's weird that we live relatively close (an hour and a half), and we don't get to see each other very often at all.
I was glad to spend some time just hanging out, with all three of us in the house, talking and/or working on different projects. My parents are fantastic people, and I feel very grateful to have their presence and influence in my life.
365:249 - Chuck
This is Chuck. I went to college with Chuck. Chuck's a funny guy, and he does a funny comic strip.
I saw Chuck at our friend's wedding, and we sat at the same table. He's looked at my Project 365 photos, and he asked if he could be my picture for the day. Nobody had put in a request for a picture before, so I was happy to oblige.

365:248 - Baseball
We saw a lot of baseball this summer. This is because we are living less than two miles from the Binghamton Mets stadium, and it's also because we have generous friends who don't use all of their season tickets.
Baseball is fun for me to a point. I think I passed that point this summer. I think it wouldn't be so bad if there were only five or seven innings in a game.
Since I watched all of this baseball with Eric, do you think I can convince him that he should come and see Mamma Mia with me when it comes to Binghamton in December?
365:247 - Fireworks
My favorite part of baseball games are the fireworks. I also enjoy the cotton candy, the kids running across the field, the giant hamburgers, and sometimes the hecklers. I guess I could take or leave the actual baseball most of the time.

Because I am now a teen librarian, I feel it's necessary to read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. (But that doesn't mean I'm happy about it.)

On our way from Liz and Matthew's to Eric's grandmother's house, we saw this incredible rainbow, so Eric pulled over (twice) so I could get some shots.

365:241 - Liz
Liz is one of my oldest friends. We went to gradeschool and college together, and she's really the only one of my classmates that I stay in touch with.
Since I started playing around with photography, she's mentioned to me that she'd like me to do a portrait of her. While we were visiting her and Matthew, I had the chance to take a whole lot of shots of her.
I don't know if Liz likes this one, but I do. It shows the care and concern she has for the plants on her farm...and for the earth in general.

Our friends Tara and Tim needed to move to NYC while Tim goes to graduate school. I'm glad we got to spend some extra time with them before they left. We will miss them.

A few of us went for a photo walk in Owego, which was great fun! We walked across the bridge that spans the river, and there were some pretty fantastic spiders who build their webs in the decorative fencing on the bridge. They're no dummies--they know where the bugs are.

Eric's friend from college - Kate - came to visit us during the same weekend. We hadn't seen her in a very long time, and it was great to get to spend some time with her.

During the last week of camp at Sky Lake, a few of our friends were volunteering as staff, and after the camp was over on Friday, they came to visit.
This is a picture of Michelle. She's got a very expressive face. She is awesome.

365:231 - Prayer Flags
When we visited our friend Dave in Seattle a couple of years ago, we spent some time wandering around the Pike Place Market. One of the places we visited was a small Tibetan shop. I always thought the Tibetan prayer flags were pretty, but I didn't know what they meant. We bought some, and the gentleman running the shop was kind enough to email me a short explanation. Here's an excerpt:
"The colors of a prayer flag and the symbols printed on it create a prayer or offering that the wind distributes to the world each time it brushes against the flag. ...Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength and wisdom. They also bring happiness and good health for all who hang the flags as well as for their families, love ones, neighbors, nearby strangers and enemies."
This is the first time we've hung them, and I really like having them on our porch.
365:229 - It's Hot.
After a relatively mild summer, we had a week or so of "real" summer with temperatures reaching 90 or so. Good thing our apartment stays relatively cool....and thank you to Kevin who gave us his air conditioner for our bedroom when he moved!
