We had a bunch of friends over after the Strawberry Festival in town. Two of the couples have children old enough to figure out how they want to entertain themselves, and one of the activities of the evening ended up being bug collecting. They came to us and asked for jars (which, thanks to Eric's canning habits, we have in abundance), and they went off in search of creatures to put in the jars. After digging around in the rocks that made up the fire ring, everyone ended up with a worm or a cricket or a beetle. As soon as the hunt was over, the poor buggers were forgotten until it was time to release them before everyone went home. I'm so glad that these kids enjoy playing outside so much, and I love having a yard that they can run around in!
