I took this photo after I had been reading Beauty Queens by Libba Bray. It's a teen novel about a plane of beauty pageant contestants that crashes into a deserted island. Only about a dozen of them survive, and they have to figure out how to make things work. It's a hilarious commentary on femininity and the ways that the media tries to influence women into thinking they should be a certain way.
(I'm not really a stereotypically feminine person, so it took me a while to find something in the house that could represent femininity without a ton of effort.)
