Driving home, I was listening to The Killers' song (whose name I can't remember right now), and there was a lyric that jumped out at me:

If you can't hold on,
Hold on.

I'm not sure if it's how the songwriter/singers meant it, but I feel like I know of a lot of people who "can't" hold on, but they still do hold on--tough, resilient, brave people.
