As I was driving home, I was listening to a CD of some of my favorite songs. One lyric in particular caught my attention, and I had a perfect image in mind that included magnetic poetry spelling out the lyric. Then I got home and started pawing through my words, and one of the ones I needed was not there. Boo.
In November, a Mexican restaurant opened in our town. I think we've visited Las Chicas Taqueria more often than we've visited all of the other Owego restaurants combined since then.
The inside of the restaurant is a total riot of color--this is just a glimpse!
(Tuesday, 25 January 2011) I leave in the morning for a conference in Houston, Texas. I really had to fight the urge to take all these along with me...

Matt's pinhole camera photos inspired me to play around a little more with the pinhole attachment for my camera. Other than changing this to black and white, this photo is straight out of the camera. I need to play around with the attachment some day when it's still light outside!
Also, I think I may have some dead pixels...uh-oh...time to start saving for a new camera!
Eric and I went to the library in Ithaca today. It's got a pretty good selection of photography books and an enormous collection of graphic novels. Eric also appreciates their great CD collection. We ended up with a giant stack of stuff, all of which we can return here in Owego when we're finished.
One of the great things about living in Owego and working at the library in Binghamton--I've got library cards for two different library systems!
(Friday, 21 January 2011) Put some Sepia Type 100 film in my Automatic 100 at lunch time. It's been awhile since I used Sepia and couldn't remember if I set the camera to 300 or 3000 speed (film is 1500 iso). Tried 3K out with meter all the way to light and took this shot out my den window.

(Tuesday, 18 January 2011) So far today it has snowed, rained, sleeted, and a mix of all three at once. Like this little branch, most everything is now coated in ice.

(Monday, 17 January 2011) Cameras in tow, I decided to conquer one of my fears—I walked out onto the frozen lake! Figured nearing the end of my first roll of film in the Black Slim Devil was a good motivator.
Used my Canon 9000f to scan the negative. Still getting the hang of scanning film…

(Sunday, 16 January 2011) This is how I imagine Binghamton looked a century ago. Only I took this shot this afternoon from the top of the State Street Parking Ramp...

I received this miniature bowling set in my New Year's cracker a year or two ago, and I finally pulled it out of its tiny package this evening. I tried to bowl, but the ball is pitiful in comparison to the pins, so I was successful only in nudging one of the pins to the side.
(Thursday, 13 January 2011) One of my coworkers made wooden reindeer for Christmas presents. Thought one of the snow banks in my yard would be the perfect place to take a photo of it.

I LOVE THE SNOW. Some of my co-workers blame me every time it snows 'cause I get so excited about it. One of them asked me why I love it so much, and I had to think a minute.
I decided that the reason that I love snow is because it's the closest that this world has to magic.
This is the view from our front porch after I got home from work this evening. It's awesome.
(Tuesday, 11 January 2011) Looked through my film drawer this afternoon and came across some PX 100 First Flush. Love the timeless feel to The Impossible Project's Silver Shade films.

(Monday, 10 January 2011) Tried the heating technique with the test film again--only this time shot in natural light. It shifted to blue pretty quickly.

(Sunday, 9 January 2011) Read that applying heat to a developing PX70 shot can help the colors pop. Thought I'd test it out with some test film. These erasers were the most colorful objects I could find at the moment. Used a hair dryer to heat this up for about 3 minutes.
