Today is the last day of my Project 365. I was initially thinking that I'd try to go out with a bang, but it looks like I'm going out on a softer note, and that's ok.
After doing some of our Christmas shopping in downtown Owego at the locally-owned shops, we stopped in at the Goat Boy Coffee Shop and had a dessert snack. (Mine was this lovely and delicious red velvet cupcake.) It's so wonderful to see downtown so busy with people shopping at these local businesses. After the flood, this is really a serious sign of hope.

363 - going home
Driving home from Thanksgiving, time seemed to move slowly, even though the scenery was flying by.
362 - together
Hanging out with my family on Thanksgiving was fantastic. It was wonderful to sit on my sister's porch in the sunshine, just watching what was going on in the neighborhood and catching up with each other.
These are my sister's and mother's hands.
361 - spinning
We got together with friends on Wednesday evening. Even when you get to be an adult, Tinker Toys are fascinating.

360 - rain and train
I like the sprinkles that the light makes with the raindrops on the windshield.
359 - iPhone photo
Eric's working on a 365, too, which he started on his birthday. Here's the photo that he took of me. (He's been playing with a new iPhone photo application each week, and this week's is kind of wild.)

358 - Fisher Price farmer
A couple of weeks ago, my mom sent a care package with a bunch of awesome stuff, including this Fisher Price farmer that we played with when we were little.
356 - napping in the sun
I love the light that comes into our house on sunny afternoons. So does Natalie.
355 - reading
Eric got a lot of suggestions of good graphic novels to read, and now he's got a big stack of them to go through.
353 - Cinemaster
Our friend Andy gave me this old movie camera. If I can get my hands on some movie film, maybe I'll be able to make an awesome movie!
351 - man and city
Our friend Andrew lives in a building in Brooklyn with roof access, so of course we took advantage of that!
350 - turn to clear vision
Our friends Tim and Tara took us to the top of 30 Rock. The view was [obviously] incredible. When you look out at the city, it's mind-boggling to think of how many people live and work in the city. Insane.
349 - written on stone
One of the countless pieces at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It's such an amazing place.

347 - Owego evening
Sometimes my commute is frustrating in that I see so many things I'd like to take photos of, but I can't really pull over on the highway. I took this photo when I got home...a little too late to catch the gorgeous color in the sky that I saw during my drive.
The good thing about that, though, is that I do enjoy the view without feeling the need to capture it perfectly with the camera.
Today I'm thankful for an enjoyable and beautiful commute.

345 - good book
On my lunch hour, I really had to tear myself away from the book I was reading when it was time to return to work.
Today I'm thankful for books and for a job that lets me share the excitement of good stories with kids. Being a librarian is such a fantastic job.

344 - great-grandpa
We got together today with some of Eric's family to celebrate his birthday. Here's Eric's grandfather with our niece.
Today I'm thankful to have married into a family that I enjoy so much.
343 - leaves along the river
As I was driving toward home today, I got off the highway and parked at a boat launch in Apalachin. The sun was shining so beautifully, and I had nowhere to be right away, so I was able to take a little time to snap some photos along the river, and then I headed to the cemetery in Owego to get some shots, as well.
I'm thankful to live in a place with so much natural beauty, and I'm thankful for some time to appreciate it.
342 - Eric
On Eric's birthday, of course, I'm thankful for him.
It's so great to be married to someone who is interesting, funny, and loving.

341 - gratitude and a crumbled wall
Shutter Sisters, a group of fantastic and inspirational photographers whose blog I follow, has a project they call the One Word Project, where they focus on images relating to one word each month. For November, the word is thankful.
As I walked into the house from my car this evening, I remembered how almost two months ago, our yard was covered with flood water. Thinking about it struck a chord in me--feelings that were neither good nor bad, really--just remembering the powerful impact of that day.
Today I am thankful for a crumbled wall in our basement. I am thankful because we were lucky enough to have water only in our basement. I am thankful that even though our wall is not yet fixed, we DO have a new boiler to make heat for our house in the winter.
I am thankful for friends who bought us a canoe as a wedding present. I am thankful for a husband who is clever and capable. I am thankful for friends who fed us and let us spend the night.
However, I am also thankful for what I learned from the flood. I learned that I need to keep a reasonable perspective on my "stuff." I learned that I can't assume it's not going to happen, but I can't panic about it either. I learned that I need to live in a way that I will not be devastated if it happens again.

338 - helpful cat
Eric was sorting through some papers on the living room floor, so Natalie offered to help.

337 - corn and sun
Eric and I visited his uncle's farm (Stoughton Farm) today--the last weekend day of their corn maze. It was a beautiful afternoon, but as soon as that sun went behind the hill, it got CHILLY!

335 - cat shadow
I was off work today 'cause I work tomorrow, and it was nice because I got to be home to enjoy the way that the afternoon sun came into the house.
I have to say, though, that I'm pretty excited about the forecast of a couple of inches of snow tomorrow! I hope that tomorrow's photo will include some white, fluffy flakes.

334 - simple
If only love were always simple.
I feel so grateful that I have relatively uncomplicated relationships with my husband and other family members and friends.

330 - autumn sunset
The sun was shining this afternoon, so I figured that I'd better catch it before it's gone.
329 - awesome ladies
My mom and my sister came to visit this weekend. It was great to spend time with them. I wish we didn't all live so far apart!

328 - sweeping
I did some cleaning this evening in preparation for a visit from my mom and sister. Although, as my dad said, "they're not too picky," so I didn't NEED to clean for them, it's good to have an excuse to do some housework that usually gets put off.

326 - ghostly fern
I was just playing around with zooming during long exposures...I didn't expect this effect, but I kind of like it.

323 - fistful of dessert
Eric and I participate in a CSA (community supported agriculture), and we've been getting a pile of vegetables each Tuesday this summer and into the fall. The growing season is mostly over now, though, and the farmers had a party for all of the CSA members this afternoon. It was a potluck, so you can imagine that there was a great variety of wonderful food available.
Eric went to get us some dessert, and when he came back, he said, "Take a picture of this!" Those desserts were delicious.
I've discovered that when Eric encourages me [bluntly tells me] to take a shot of something, he's often exactly right. (See this example.) I'm excited that he's taking more photos of his own, now that he's got an iPhone.

321 - love (Alex and Erin)
Our friends Alex and Erin got married. I loved that their feet were bare as they started out on the next piece of their journey together.
320 - sweater flower
We went thrift store shopping, and the sweaters were out in full force. There were some ridiculously amazing blinged-out holiday sweaters, but I settled on this slightly stodgy librarian-type sweater.
319 - driving in the rain
There's just something lovely to me about the way that the rain catches light. It makes me love stop lights and headlights and streetlights more.
318 - night glow
I notice the side yard more now that we're using the back door instead of the front.
316 - birch and fog
Driving back from Cooperstown the morning after the wedding, we encountered a bunch of fog. It was gorgeous.
315 - love (Rachel and Dan)
Our friends got married outside on the most beautiful day this fall. It was incredible. They're going to have so much fun being married!
