an honor and a project
The Honor:
I created a photo account on Flickr, and I joined several groups to try to get ideas for photos. One of those groups is called "Shutter Sisters," a group that's related to the website of a group of women photographers. Their website includes a section called "The Daily Click," and I just found out that one of my photos was December 28's Daily Click!
The Project:
I have been hesitant to mention this because I'm so nervous that I won't follow through with it. Inspired by some of the people whose work I've looked at on Flickr, I've decided to do what's called a Project 365--taking and posting a picture each day for an entire year. I thought that starting on January 1 of 2009 would work really well. This is the year that I turn 30, and it looks like it's going to be a year full of uncertainty and transition for us, so it will be good to document it. Also, I'm hoping to gain some more skills at photo composition and editing. Wish me luck!

dried flower and sky
One of the great things about today being a snow day is that I took the opportunity to fool around with a couple of older pictures. This is one that I took in Kentucky on a walk up to the reservoir. I played with it in Picnik and added a texture made from a picture that I took of the concrete near the Settlement's pool.

Phil's Gift Shop
I took this picture in downtown Binghamton. Although Phil's Gift Shop is no longer at this location, the signs are pretty awesome, and they make me think of my dad every time we go by.
There are lots of cool buildings, etc., to take pictures of in Binghamton. I'm hoping that when it gets warmer, I'll have time to wander around and get some good shots.

Russian nesting dolls
I took this picture after messing around for hours with other objects, adjusting the aperature and shutter speed. This is the only one that turned out almost perfect.
