006 - fireworks
This evening was Lights on the River in Owego, which meant that the holiday decorations were officially lit, and everyone came downtown for shopping, eating, and FIREWORKS! It was so awesome to see so many people come out in the cold to enjoy the festivities and to support local businesses.
I love our town.

004 - spooky trees
My shot of our neighbors' windows with the Christmas candles in them weren't working how I wanted them to, so I pointed the camera up and did a long exposure. During the day these trees are friendly, but at night they look kind of ominous.

002 - pouring
In looking for some photographic inspiration this evening, this ceramic pitcher/vase caught my eye. I don't quite remember how we happened to own this piece--I believe that somebody gave it to us filled with flowers.
I used my Diana lens from Photojojo to take this shot. I hadn't used it in a while, and I forgot how much fun it is!

001 - boots
I stopped my 2010 Project 365 in June after having missed four days in less than six months. After a successful first try at the Project 365, I had added a new element into it (magnetic poetry), which I loved, but which added another step into the process, and I think that ultimately that was my downfall.
At first it was kind of a relief not to take photos every day. Then I started to miss it. Then Thanksgiving came and went without me taking a single photo. Then it hit me that I need the discipline of taking a picture every day....I need to be held accountable.
So here we go again! I have no grand ambitions this time around--I just don't want to lose the practice of creativity. I want to capture the moments and the stories.
This photo is my sweet husband Eric getting ready to head out to take care of the chores while his dairy farmer father is out of town.
